I see buildings differently.
I’m a native Angeleno, and I’ve always been drawn to the architecture of Los Angeles — from 1920s courtyard apartments to mid-century buildings and the small details that give a property its identity.
Before property management became my profession, I trained and worked as a photographer, earning both a BFA and MFA in fine art photography. That education sharpened my eye for composition, atmosphere and detail. It also taught me to look closely before deciding what needs to change.
After more than two decades working in property management, that way of seeing still shapes how I work. I notice the chipped paint, the neglected fixture and the maintenance problem — but I also notice the original tile, the proportion of a courtyard, the quality of the light and the details worth protecting.
An eye for
the details.
Photography taught me that small choices change the way we experience a space. Property management is different work, but the same attention matters.
I approach improvements practically, while remaining conscious of what gives a building character. The goal isn’t to preserve everything blindly or make everything new. It is to make thoughtful decisions about what should be repaired, restored, improved or left alone.
Structure with soul.
Presence
Buildings need someone paying attention. I stay close enough to the day-to-day to see problems, patterns and opportunities before they disappear into a report.
Perspective
Good decisions consider both the immediate problem and the longer life of the property — including cost, function, tenant experience and character.
Stewardship
Original character deserves respect. Improvements should make a building work better without casually erasing the things that make it distinctive.
Personal management requires
a deliberately limited portfolio.
Viewfinder is intentionally boutique. I take on properties I can personally oversee rather than building a large portfolio that pushes the day-to-day work away from me.
I work best with owners who care about their buildings and want a manager who combines clear systems and consistent communication with a genuine interest in the property itself.

Lisa Talbot is a Los Angeles property manager, real estate broker and fine-art photographer. A native Angeleno, she has worked in property management for more than two decades and brings an artist’s eye to the practical work of caring for vintage and character properties.
She founded Viewfinder Properties to offer hands-on, preservation-minded management for owners who want their buildings treated as individual places rather than interchangeable assets.
